HELP with Monitors!

Is it normal for monitors to begin hissing very slightly when sound is played through them and then stop hissing a second after the sound stops?

I dont think so. What audio interface do you have?

its like a behringer uca202 , i just tested the speakers without the interface and its exactly the same, could it be something to do with my mac settings?

Could be a number of things from the power going into you computer, the soundcards output of even the samples your using,
What soundcard do you have installed, standard?
