its up to you whether you want the crash to fade quite quickly or long generally I only use abletons built in reverb for crashes and similar samples

just play around with it. if it sounds good, its the best type of reverb. theres no real answer to this question tbh

could also pitch it up and down instead of using reverb...or could layer two of the same and pitch one up and one down.....also add very subtle echo to it.

I find a good crash makes a difference to a good break pattern...i always add a reverse cym before the drop too to add extra dramatics to the crash. I think the crash is underated and under mentioned.

also, to be honest there are so many crash samples you should be able to find the one your after without needing any effects added

no! delay that hp's out is the obvious choice here. couple of shakes of salt, id say the correct length of string is bout as long as a car.
