Was thinking today about the career path of Dnb DJs, and a lot came out something like this.

Step 1: Start listening to mixes given to you by mates
Step 2: Start to enjoy the different sub genres
Step 3: Learn the individual tunes and producers
Step 4: Buy decks and 10 most famous tunes of the time
Step 5: Lock yourself in room, practicing beat matching
Step 6: Develop a DJ'ing style and dream about playing out
Step 7: Play out anywhere you can for free, house parties etc
Step 8: Start producing tunes to help promote yourself
Step 9: Put on your own night
Step 10: Release tunes on net label
Step 11: Start playing proper events
Step 12: Get your first tune cut to vinyl
Step 13: Hear your tunes dropped by big DJs
Step 14: Start playing bigger events
Step 15: Have tune featured on compilation CD
Step 16: Create your own imprint
Step 17: Look for new production talent to sign and release
Step 18: Start headlining events
Step 19: Play international clubs and events
Step 20: Become a legend!

Just my opinion of the way to go, I'm currently at step 8, give it 50 years and I may get somewhere

That looks pretty accurate lol. There need to be some side chains though like 'failed due to alcohol addiction' lol.

i am doin what i normally do with games on this one, i am already smashed through step 20 and decided to start again cos i got bored, becoming a legend can get boring.

on a serious not tho i am tettering jus after step 9.

I'm on step 8. But got rid of my turntables cos I'm a lighting man now. Studying it in uni. Just need someone to become a 'duo' with in uni...

Ah i was thinking about goin into sound engineering etc, how have you got on and what are the prospect in that industry...If you don't mind me asking lol :)

I've finished put on my own night before but I'd say 8-10 is the hardest stuff. If you're committed to it then 1-7 can be accomplished in 1-2 years (especially if you're at university.)

Well, I'm starting in September. So I'm not really well into it yet. I've just been doing plenty of stuff at home :D

My 'Dream' I suppose, is too have a sorta DnB group (not quite DnB, more big beat) and then I could do all of the lighting and jump around on stage like a mad man :clown:

But if not. I'd tour around with bands just setting up stages, organising the shows and doing the lighting. Then if I got tired of it (which I wont) I'd make a company that makes and sells their own lighting.
