Was just wondering, from the people who have remixed, or been remixed how you go about splitting the money.

Basically, my mate has remixed one of my tunes, and there's the possibility of release. If I'm getting 'X'% of all sales, how much should I be passing onto him.

As an completely uneducated guess, I was gonna go for 50/50 of the money I earn.

I don't wanna stitch myself up, but equally don't wanna do him over either.

Cheers

If its getting signed then its the labels responsibility to sort that, however the general rule in my experience is:

For the original:
Original artist receives his X%, and the label gets Y%.

For the remix:
Again, original artist receives his X%, and the label gets Y%. The remixer is paid a one off remix commission and sees none of the proceeds of sales.

yea i havent done any myself but from what i hear the remixer gets paid a one of fee for the remix and all royalties go to the label & original artist, but as saint said, its for the label to decide.
