Going to sound like a Dumb Ass but after years I've mashing up tunes I now want to get into producing my own tracks but can't seem to find any complete tutorial packages. Can anyone point me to any complete guides from start to finish for creating DnB tracks, eg what layers I should be implementing? I'm currently using Ableton Live but if Cubase is better then I'm happy to swap.

Make what you think sounds good and what you feel.

I use Cubase but just use what ever you like.

If there was a complete guide, from start to finish of how to make drum and bass then we'd all be at the top.

use any DAW, they all do the same thing in the long run. 100's of tutorials on youtube, and loads in this forum.

yeah like they said - search you tube for "ableton dnb tutorial"
also check out things like computer music magazine - future music magazine etc - they have tutorials and stuff u might find handy

First up learn about Surgical Equalisation ----> http://audio.tutsplus.com/tutorials/mixing-mastering/3d-mixing-part-3-equalization/
Use this to get a feeling of where things should go ----> http://www.independentrecording.net/irn/resources/freqchart/main_display.htm
Pick yourself a couple of synths and learn them inside out,
Youll notice most synths are set out the same but with the companies out added zing

But basically spend alot of time researching, trying out techniques and banking end results for use in other projects and such
Recently iv been compiling a drum bank, nasty ]=]

Audio Tuts+ like mentioned above is a great place to learn. I use FL Studio 8 and i love it.

also head to www.youtube.com and look up tutorials by DevZ, boy in a band, or just any tutorial you can find.

Look around on the forum as well to get a decent sample pack of drums (snares, kicks, etc.)
