Mainly looking for a program for windows that allows me to mess around with pre built in samples, sort of like logic has on mac, not looking to do anything too serious yet as Im outside of the country for a few months and living the internet life off a notebook so Im not expecting to make any dance floor bangers.

Like I said, its more for some creative entertainment than anything else.

    Any help is appreciated :)

are you talking about something free or cheap?

i'm a mac user, but i guess you are talking about something like garageband.

i believe there are some cheap pieces of software out there like mixcraft and sony's acid music studio
that would allow you to compose stuff with a good library of loops.

FL Studio express or fruity might fit the bill for around $50 too.

or download a demo version of something?

i would say just get yourself a copy of reason. its built in library is pretty extensive but then you can find 1000s of sample packs for reason on the net.
