Folks,

I'm looking for a set of speakers (monitors) that sound quality for the AVERAGE listener. These are non production, but I want a good response range.

50-20k bla bla bla flat response... you get the drill.

Under 100 bucks US dollars.

I don't mind if they are active speakers, I would prefer if they werent USB, perhaps ones that plug directly into the earphones out port of the computer.

I was looking at these.

and these

or these

please tell me if anyone has experience with any of them... What are the pros/cons etc...

I know i know, "GO LISTEN FOR YOURSELF THEN DECIDE"...

They arent for producing, just casual listening for my wife.

I need a set by this week.

:rinsed:

(EDIT: Most cheaper monitors can't get lower than 75 hz, wtf moar base!!!)

Fuck it, im going to the store to buy the M audio studiophiles AV40s. They only have the AV20s on the stand so i will listen to those and extrapolate what the AV40s will sound like (louder and thicker). I have to set up some speakers for a small party on sunday and i dont have time to dick around...

M audio has never let me down before!!

I just dont like the fact that they cut at 85 hz....

MOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRR BAAAAAAAAAAASSSSS!!! :(

best you'll prolly get brand new is a pair of 3" actives, but these may be worth a look as a comparison to the alesis ones:

M Audio AV30 actives look pretty swell for under $100:

Samson MediaOne 3a actives:

I am liking those M audios. I might just get the AV40s, i know ill kick myself in the butt for not getting the 40 watt system.

You can never have enough wattage...

boom boom boom... AV40

Thanks for all the suggestion guys, I ordered a set of M audio AV40s from the local store. I can return them if i am unhappy at a later time.
