Best way to make bootleg style remixes

Just out of curiosity, what is the best way to go about making a bootleg/booty style remix using the actual song and not the stems? I'd just quite like to add some mixable drums, extra bass etc to some tunes.

do what you just said then, eq and chop/stretch the original and layer your own drums and bass line.

Also i used to find downloading instrumentals and accapellas of the same song was useful too.
