Too Much Bass!

It is possible.

When recording mixes using a RCA to stereo/phono line into my mac with Logic the bass is always really really really loud. And the treble and mids sound all distorted. It's not indistinguishable but it is pretty poor.

Sounds fine coming out of my speakers, if I turn it down it does the same but quieter

Not doing anything to the mix in Logic, should I be?

I'm thinking it might be the wire.

On a mac the input doubles as a line and mic input. It is defaulted to mic so you need to turn the input volume right down to get a decent recording volume.

I have to do this on my laptop.

open up system preferences, click "sound" and turn the mic off or turn it's input volume down.
