When we say “Fatboy Slim” what do you think of? Legendary DJ? Prolific Producer? Acid House Godfather? Champion of EDM? Housemartins’ bass player? Brit award winner? However he comes to mind it will forever be in the context of something awesome, someone who has paved the way for everything that’s come since he started out making music we all live by now in the 80s.
Over 20 years later he’s still going strong and some would argue bigger than he’s ever been. There’s very few DJs that brought House music to life in the UK that are still leading from the front today, Carl Cox being one, and Fatboy Slim shows no signs of stepping aside.
One thing Norman Cook has always done is keep true to his love of music, if it’s good he’ll play it and it doesn’t need to be from the top tier of artists, Norman Cook champions talent… wherever that might come from.
Enter the Futuristic Polar Bears. Three producers who are renowned for their polished sound, talented remixes and big beat originals. They’ve been releasing hit, after hit, after hit for years so it was only a matter of time before the likes of Fatboy Slim pricked his ears at one of their tracks.
After he teamed up with Riva Starr and Beardyman on the single ‘Get Naked’ the reworks of course followed, a huge hit like this never skips the studios of the artists across the land, the Futuristic Polar Bears where no different. Unable to pass up the opportunity to sprinkle a little of their magic on an already show stopping release, they weaved in a piece Fatboy didn’t realise was missing.
The track lands, the legendary DJ hears it, plays it, laps it up! Before they knew it, the Futuristic Polar Bears where officially collaborating with one of the biggest artists in the history of Dance Music.
On November 5th an album and DVD package of the recent SELL OUT tour Fatboy Slim journeyed across the UK is to go on sale, including the track he joined forces with the Polar Bears for… no other rework of his original hits this sure to be chart-topping album. Other releases included come from Steve Aoki, Erick Morillo, Sidney Samson, Steve Angello and Cedric Gervais.
This release maps out the rise to fame that Fatboy has soared and pins the names to the pathway he created. Without Fatboy Slim there probably wouldn’t be a Futuristic Polar Bears but without the Futuristic Polar Bears ‘Get Naked’ would be missing that extra zing!
