FRIDAY 17TH AUGUST
METROPOLIS CLOSING PARTY – BOOM!

DILLINJA & LEMON D
PHOBIA (TURBULANCE)
PROPHECY / ALEX M
MC’S AOB & TONN PIPER

The infamous originators of the Valve Soundsytem, DILLINJA and LEMON D will be attacking your ears with heavy chunks of brutal electronics as they crashland for the last ever METROPOLIS at Plug! These two bass bin destroyers take no prisoners with a mix of aggressive funk and the freshest of hard nosed sounds…

DILLINJA and LEMON D are the most fiercesome coupling in drum and bass. These two lovers of dark and dirty jump up electronics are the legendary co-creators of the Valve Soundsystem, the only system purpose built for drum and bass and the deep frequencies at it’s heart.

Both from Brixton, both inspired by dub and dancehall, the pair have hammered out their own niche with their sound system (named after Shaka preamps used in reggae systems) building it themselves and tweaking every sub woofer to ensure it leaves the venues it gets wheeled into in rumble.

As Djs and producers both Dillinja and Lemon D are two of the drum and bass scene’s most dedicated dub plate soldiers. DILLINJA has notched up something akin to 500 releases since he started beavering away in his studio/bunker back in the early 1990s.

With numerous guises including Capone, Cybotron and Basic Influence, he’s released scores of dance floor anthems (including the top 40 baiting ‘Twist ’em Out’ and stone cold classic ‘This is a Warning’) on a string of labels including the Valve imprint established with Lemon D and the legendary V Recordings. His acclaimed ‘My Sound’ and ‘Cybotron’ records set the bar for d’n’b production while his DJ sets never fail to blow the room wide open…

LEMON D aka Kevin King has an equally rich musical upbringing. He was the brains behind the Plant Earth imprint while unleashing his own production work on the best labels around. ‘Urban Style Music,’ ‘Break it up’ and ‘Jah Love’ were just some of the cuts Mr D has been behind, showcasing an effortless ability to glide between full on funk to buzzing bass bombs.

Together this dangerous duo have been behind two of the hottest D‘n‘b albums of the last few years, the acclaimed ‘Big Bad Bass’ and ‘The Killa Hertz.’ They’ve been wrecking havoc across the summer season, always letting the pressure loose with their teeth rattlingly hard DJ sets. Expect the best in big, bad, bass from these original nutters…
