Hyroglifics - Tape Marauders / Undercurrent
Label: Regal Records
Young Guilford-based drum & bass producer Hyroglifics found his passion for electronic music at the age of 16 upon hearing the Fabriclive 46 mix by LTJ Bukem, which included artists such as Syncopix and Eveson to name a few. After becoming hooked on the sound of D&B and eventually diversifying into other genres he then started trying to make his own brand of futuristic and forward-thinking drum & bass. We proudly present to you 'Tape Marauders' backed with 'Undercurrent', his first release on Regal Records.
'Tape Marauders' sets of the release with a dangerously minimal yet energetic two stepping roller. Keeping it classy and simple, the almost lack of sound effects and vocals carries the weight of the sub-bass and makes this a must on the more serious drum & bass dancefloors.
Accompanied by 'Undercurrent' on the flip side, we're fooled into thinking we've got something easier in our hands. Don't let the atmospheric, almost ephemeral strings fool you, we are invited to dark and cinematic soundscapes. The almost eerie spatial awareness combined with sharp snares and yet another subterranean bassline align this young producer with the biggest names in the darker drum & bass game.
Hyroglifics has been gaining support from a wide range of producers in drum and bass such as Amoss, Gerra & Stone, Clarity, Fathom Audio, Meth, Overlook and Philth amongst others, as well as having tracks featured in January's Hospital democast, Fathom Audio's show on Kane FM and the recent Horizons podcast. With releases lined up in coming months things are looking on the up for Hyroglifics - with such new talent emerging, the future of drum & bass is looking very good indeed.
Enjoy guys, a bit darker this time round but these tunes have been favourites of mine for a while now!
