DIGITAL WREKA
A new audio imprint proudly brought to you by Profane

With the Canadian DnB scene blowing up as of late, it's good to know that the talent base is forever expanding. Profane has been a producer that’s on the lips of many DJ's and DnB fans, and for good reason. His creative use of Hip-Hop style sampling, edited breakbeats and overall Soul are creating some intricate tapestries, leading to a few tunes already being snapped up for Inperspective & Make:Shift. Thing is, the man has a wealth of tunes set to drop, and starting his own imprint is the ideal way to present his distinct sound to the masses.

Digital Wreka kicks off with an anthem, “Ever Since”, which captures the seductive sounds of classic funk, and molds them into a rollin’ Jungle cookie. There’s no catering to the masses on this one, just pure vibes and flavor. “Something Holdin Me Back” is no different, forming neck-snappin’ beats out of sounds that make you move and make you swoon. Expect more back to the future jungle craftsmanship from one of the scene’s more promising producers.

PROFANE
a: EVER SINCE / b: SOMETHING HOLDIN ME BACK

Straight out of Canada comes the debut release from Profane’s Digital Wreka imprint. Encapsulating the label’s ethos in one track isn’t easy to do, but “Ever Since” seems to be the perfect rock to build this empire on. With an intro that keeps it funky with subtle keys and guitar, the scatter-shot drums lay the base of this cut, dabbling between funky Hip-Hop swagger and intricate Drum & Bass drum edits. That hypnotic vocal sample comes in at the perfect time, causing all of the elements to collide into a truly impressive mixture. With “Something Holdin Me Back”, a very familiar sample kicks things off lushly, and keeps true head-nodding beatnuts wanting more. There aren’t a lot of tracks that marry the chopped breaks and soulful samples as well as Profane has created here, and hopefully we will get more of this interesting mix from a truly gifted producer.
