ILL TRUTH debut their wares on LIFESTYLE MUSIC with the murky futurism of Hive Mind EP.
Formerly Despicable Youth, the reconfigured Bristol-based outfit return with a thump on this menacing two-tracker. Having held onto HIVEMIND and THE REALIST for two years, Lifestyle honchos Catharsis & Piper were rarin’ to give the signal to this buzzing release.
It’s the return of the killer bees with conceptual title track, HIVE MIND. Agitang in a percussive swarm, and cleaving tissue straight from the bone with a droning saw-bass and deadly bongo roll out. Caustic mid-ranges sting the senses on this foreboding track, whilst a rolling two-step beat and snarling bassline deliver a fierce groove that’s made for the dance.
Ill Truth drop some realness on half-time head knocker, THE REALIST. This dystopian, space age saga features hip hop vocal chops echoing across a dubbed out bassline, pulsaOng beneath a extraterrestrial soundscape of sci-fi bleeps and bloops. This futuristic B-side compliments the lead track, with signature saw-bass slices, punishing kicks and groove-laden bass.
