Id like to record stuff to use for resampling and fx, what should i use to get good quality?

So i'm interested in being able to record my own stuff so i can build up some sample libraries but i mean everyday sounds and stuff outside, so i need a portable recording device that (if possible) has quite a lot of recording space and can be easily passed onto my laptop. Does anybody have any advice on what i should get? A while back in his Q&A I read that Billain uses a Sony PCM recorder like this
