Breaks Reviews
ELECTRUX OCTOPUS VIP EP
Top Drawer Digital (UK)

As much of the breakbeat scene relocates to faster ravier, territory, some interesting hybrid styles are coming to the fore.‘Octopus VIP’, the main track on this EP, has elements of breakbeat, trance and electronica all underpinned by arepetitive bass groove and synthy elements that wouldn’t be out of place on a prog house tune (except at 140BPM and, well, good.) The second mix, though,is heavily rooted in cheesy piano hardcore territory, but it’s also surprisingly decent… Albeit in an early ’90s kindaway. Either that or someone has spiked my coffee.

Jurassik 8/10
