Drum Roll

How to do a drum roll in a build up.
Like every 1st and 3rd bar then every bar then every half bar u know what i mean?
Mine never sound right when i just place kick drums where i want them to be wondered if there was a trick to it?

Im using Nuendo 4 btw, same as cubase enit?

It's as simple as placing either kicks or snares one after the other either on the 1/8 or 1/16th. I prefer to do rolls in MIDI, that way I can control/adjust velocity, attack/release etc. the make sure it sounds smooth and is free of "click" noises.
