Hi all, first post so please let me know if there's anything wrong with my post layout etc and I'll get it changed! :)

Basically, at the very intro of this song, there are some light pads alongside the guitar riff. They sound a bit like they are reversed or maybe sidechained and I'm not sure what effect it is but would love to know. Any thoughts/ suggestions would be wicked.

I think you're spot on, it's a layering of a clean guitar sound (sounds like a fender or other singer coil guitar) along with a brassy-sounding pad that's been sidechained.
