Ladies and gentlemen, allow us to introduce to you; Dutty Audio, brought to you by the Brazilian Favela Drum and Bass extraordinaire BTK. Over the past few years, BTK has amassed releases on the most esteemed labels such as Renegade Hardware, Virus and Subtitles, before capitalising on his vast experience to launch Dutty Audio.
The label will act as an outlet for BTK's own music and collaborations, as well as featuring guest artists who fit the Favel avibe - a sound all but trademarked by BTK himself.
The first release, DAUDIO001 , is an EP from the Label General himself, entitled 'Straight Up'.
A. BTK - THAT'S WHAT IT IS
The A-side brings the exact vibe that the label wants to push, tunes laced with funk. Exploring his brazilian influences including the Miami bass and rhythm that has influenced the Funk in the city of Rio de Janeiro since the early 90s.
B. BTK - EL COMMANDO
El Commando is arguably the dancefloor smasher of the EP. With a sample hook that will have you humming for months on end, 'El Commando' affirms BTK influence and recreates the atmosphere of the baile Funk from Rio de Janeiro.
C. BTK FEAT. 2SHY MC - VENGEANCE
'Vengeance' sees BTK team up with 2Shy MC, resident on London's Fabric Club and Renegade Hardware label nights, ona heavy bassline-vocal blend. Deep, dark and dutty, the C-side could not have a more apt title as BTK truely brings some Dutty Audio.
D. BTK - DUTTY STEP
The final track off of the EP keeps the rolling beats, thundering sub and hypnotic synths in full effect. Wall shaking, hip swaying, and full of attitude - 'Dutty Step' is the perfect way to finish a strong EP, and ultimately, a fantastic start to DAUDIO001.
