Anti-aliasing filters

Are they automatic (in cubase) and such? I've been reading a bit about bitrates and all, so you know.
 
If you record anything with a digital audio interface there will be anti aliasing filters
built into the hardware (possibly as a software implementation), this is to stop frequencies
above Nyquist cut off entering the system.

Most hardware and software will have them built in, and unless your bitrate is significantly lower than 44.1kHz or you've somehow managed to add frequencies that are well above human hearing then it's nothing to worry about
