hullo mate, you can't change your avatar untill you pass the 100 post mark, then you have a wider selection.

if you hit 1000 you can upload your own

Just untill you reach 100, you can still turn the noob avatar off though... Go to 'change avatar' in your settings, and choose to not display one...
