I've got a Verbatim 1 TB external harddrive, but after a few months of use I can already hear it dying. I need a solid HD, don't mind spending too much but over a hundred is a no go.

Avoid the WD essentials range. I got mine last year (1tb) and it's failed. Won't recognise when you plug it in to the PC. Fucking shitcunt thing.

Verbatim are like, the tesco value of electronics

WD, Samsung and Seagate are all solid brands

Get a G-tech GDrive. They're the best i've ever used, can't reccomend then highly enough. Very quiet, works so much better than any i've ever used.

I got a 1TB for £150
