    Title.

It's a party game which can also be played at forums via PMs. It is a very amusing game to play at parties and gatherings with friends and I believe that it can also be fun when played online.

Brief explanation of what Mafia is:

The game’s theme is Mafia vs Innocents/Village.

There are two phases: "night," when the mafia may eliminate a player from the game, and "day," during which players vote to "lynch" (eliminate) a suspect. These phases follow each other continuously until all Mafiosi have been eliminated or the mafia outnumbers the innocents.

The game begins by setting a moderator who chooses and distributes the roles to each player. Usually, 1/3 of the players are Mafiosi (rounding to the nearest whole number), 1 is detective/sheriff, 1 is doctor/bodyguard and the rest are villagers. The Mafiosi must know each other from the beginning (the PM sent by the moderator should mention the rest of the Mafia), while Villagers don’t know each other (and they should try to connect ASAP).

The game begins with night, when the Mafiosi, the Detective and the Bodyguard decide their targets. Mafiosi choose their target through PMs and one of them informs the Moderator. Bodyguard chooses a player, and that player is saved if attacked by the Mafia that night. Detective finds out the role of the chosen player (he gets the info when day begins). When the night phase ends, the death of the targeted player is announced. (Unless Bodyguard saved him or Mafia decided not to kill on purpose) The target’s role may be revealed or kept secret, it depends on the chosen rules. Night ends.

During the day, those left should discuss in order to find out the Mafiosi.
After discussion, every player should vote. Even if you don’t know who to vote, you must vote, and the vote can be something like “No lynch”. When the day phase ends, the most voted accused player gets voted out. If no player is accused (which isn’t very good for the good people since someone will most probably die in the night) the day phase ends.

General Info: Dead players may not speak at all. As soon as the sun comes up and the moderator indicates that someone is dead, he/she may not speak for the rest of the game. Similarly, as soon as a majority vote indicates that a player has been lynched, he is dead. If he wants to protest his innocence or reveal some information (like the detective’s info), he has to do it before the vote goes through. Also, you may not prove your role by showing the PM you received. All you can do is talk. You must convince others about your role.

I should mention that anyone can be the game's moderator, provided that he knows the rules well. Also, the game needs 6+ players. Considering the initial responses, it seems kind of hard to gather even 6 players. I just don't get why this thread ended up accusing me of being a homo...

I played this before on another forum.

Was actually quite fun to be fair. Only as long as people don't slack.

It turns into pages and pages of theories. Highly entertaining seeing people backtrack then.
