I heard a rumour that windows converts yer sounds back to 16 bit 44.1khz even if ur using 24bit 96khz...is this true ? ( Shouldn't matter with an external Motu 828 mkii)

Only if you run it through the windows mixer, if you're using decent ASIO drivers it doesn't matter...

NICE 1 !!!!!-The only question now is do places like metropolois use masters taht are 96 khz...and is my DAT machine obsolete...boo hoo

I'm sure a place like Metropolis could accomodate just about anything you throw at them, so long as you throw a big fist full of £50's too.... 
If you send them a 44.1 they'll likely convert it up to 96 or even 192 before they start working on it anyway, i'm sure your dat machine isn't obsolete just yet
