I've noticed with Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan and now The Pacific, there hasnt been one single black man in any of their productions. Although 2.5million black people were involved in WW2. Seems a little bit fishy to me.

i believe blacks werent allowed to serve in frontline units at this point in history, as you said many did serve but in logistics and artillery etc etc.

aside from that, what are your thoughts on the pacific? obv its good but i just dont seem to be into it quite as much as band of brothers, i cant seem to care about the characters as much

Yeah it was ok, but there wasnt really any sense of how awful it was on Guadalcanal. 2 battles, and throwing tins of peaches down their throats, oh and 1 guy with the shits. Seems like we're being rushed through it all too quickly.

agreed, band of brothers was epic, really felt like the people were part of a whole war going on, somehow the pacific just doesnt seem to capture that feeling

So I asked my Grandad about this and he informed me that American Black service men and women were never trained on how to use a gun and were never allowed to have a gun whilst in action, through fear they may use them in retribution against white American soldiers. Though they werent actually on the front line if chaos ensued and they managed to get their hands on a gun they didnt know how to operate it. This is truly shocking.

I agree, for a show named Band of Brothers, why are there no REAL brothers in it. huh.
also not much of a band are they. unless the rifles double as flutes?
