When it comes to a producer making a track to earn some money, when a producer makes a track that falls outside of the boundries of dnb... Or when a producer is liked by fans outside of the scene?

i see all points of view when it comes to this issue....dnb ravers and real dnb supporters see dnb as an all round package, you dont get this with any other music and i think people are scared that this will change, if dnb is commmercialised, will you still get the same buzz and energy that you have got for the last decades? so people dont like it when dnb producers use their skills and go commercial...i understand this point of view because nobody wants this to happen.....at the same time if you were a producer and a highly skilled producer at that and you had a chance to make real money doing what you love, you would do the exact same thing and if you say you wouldnt your a liar because what person wants to stay in their shitty 9-5 office makes tunes as a hobbie when they could make tunes for a living...

i see both sides, i dont think dnb heads are snobby fucks i would just say they can't look outside the box and only see one point of view..i say allow the producers to do something with their talent but at the same time dont expect me to listen to it because its going to appeal to the masses and wont appeal to my taste...if someone comes up to you loving pendulum then just turn a blind eye, at least they are listening to dnb at the end of the day...

Because musically their up their own arseholes.

Yea I like dnb, I'm in an elite, not many people like what I like. SooooooooOOOOooOOo I so dam cool you know!

Shit a few people, including some of the kids that hang out my local shop are playing C&S. Man that's not cool, I better hate on them now, even tho I brought that record the kiddie was playing.

Brap wicked

(disclaimer not everyone speaks like this)

music is a business

but the way mainstream music has gone in the last 25 years or so with contracts, boy bands, reality tv contests etc. means alot of music lovers have been forced "underground" following something created with passion, it'll be the same in any genre of music that has a hardcore fan base but not much intrest from outside, and as pop is so shit u assume the underground scene u like is the best, it creates an elitist attitude, ppl see it as a threat when ppl get big and make money outside the scene, "the mainstream twats are stealing OUR music"

it's just ppl being tryig to protect what they love from what pop has become, but if u wanna make money out of music today u have to compromise and work for The Man!!!!

ramble...ramble...blah,blah,blah...

PEACE, LOVE & UNITY

is that what ppl want...dnb staying underground ?
because to me if the genre doesnt evolve or gets outside influences, all you'll get is Hillbillies reproducing between each other and birthing monsters.....

shit man i here what ur saying but i think i preffer the dnb to stay underground forever...
tho i dont quiet know why i just think i could do without hereing shit drum and bass choones on wank music channels and everyone saying" i love drum and bass" when they have no idea of its background history or anythink!!! kids will be finkin it summat new???

besides its kindda like the weed i hope for gods sake that dont become comercial/legal cos hard toking mo-fos like me wont be able to toke the small does that come in cigarete form from down the local shop,,ill have to get the puckaz on perscription!!!

its a wank comparison like!! but it just means ill have to get my heavy dnb on perscription too!!!

I wouldn't say its just dnb heads that are snobby all music genre's have their own fuckwits up their arse, indie and techno chaps espically, personally I find its the dj's that are the snobs or their close associates.

Tbh I dont give a fuck if shit gets up in the charts or random joe public get or doesn't get into dnb.

At least I know gabba/speedcore will never appeal to the masses cause nobody aint that cool :D

see this is where the problem lies, you assume that because something becomes availlable to the masses it is "comercial"

no one says "urgh public health is soooo comercial, i aint doing that"

well, maybe you

i bet you 50p i can convince the mainstream machete is what drum and basss all about. the mainstream is stupid, got dropped on it's head a lot like what chunk did in the goonies

to deliberately target an audience outside of drum and bass, the track usually tends to be dumbed down and shit.

to break an outside audience by chance, is usually proof of a class track.

i don't really see a problem either way, but to make music purely for money is always going to get you a bit of a slagging, and rightly so.

same goes for any other genre, tbh.

then he would be right Blurr -

Commercial -
'prepared, done, or acting with sole or chief emphasis on salability, profit, or success: a commercial product
suitable or fit for a wide, popular market'
