In about 3 months i am gonna be getting a Mackie24 desk and i want to prepare for its arrival by getting the appropriate soundcard.
Which one is ok for direct in/out action through the desk?
I have been told to get two Delta 10/10's but i wondered on everyone's opinions on this?
What's the best 24 in/out (or so) soundcard to get for this task?

dont know much about this but the delta range is the worst piece of shit i've ever had the disspleasure of buying

not that im bitter

Dude, why don't you just get the Mackie ONYX and the firewire card that goes along with it?

As far as sound cards go,

PCI Interface: RME card (which is the fastest and highest quality AD/DA conversion)

USB 2.0: MOTU 828 (Faster than Firewire)

Firewire: MOTU 896hd

You can't go wrong with MOTU

It really comes down to budget. Hi end AD/DA conversion is really what you are buying, so don't cheat yourself!

Presonus also makes some good interfaces!

Unklefesta - hate to say it but USB 2.0 is definitely not faster than firewire......

Read Test:
* 5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 33% faster than USB 2.0
* 160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 70% faster than USB 2.0
Write Test:
* 5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 16% faster than USB 2.0
* 160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 48% faster than USB 2.0

I have a 24/96 and its bloody great, delta 10/10LT is a good card, know nuff producers with these - and they are perfect for connecting to analogue mixers.

Deltas are alright, probably not the best in the world but they're cheap, you can afford a few of em and they do the job.

why would you need a few of them mark? honest question, im that ignant.

To give you enough in/outs to direct link to an anologue desk.
i.e. 24 track analogue Mackie desk needs 24 in/outs but Deltas only go up to 10 in/out (which is actually 8 cos two of them are dedicated to something else) so you need 3 to make up a direct link to your PC.
The MOTU 24/24 is THE ONE by the looks of it, direct in/outs in one package

ok i see. i need a new soundcard, mine is busted. has a constant sussuration of white noise on it (SERIOUS!!). its one of them soundcards built in to the motherboard, its a complete bitch to make music with.
