Nothing quite like the obscure japanese horror films (not the american remakes)... The Grudge, Ring, Shikoku etc etc... something about them being in a different language makes them extra scary 8O

i think korean horror movies are even better than the japanese ones. they seem to have a less mechanical demeanor. tale of two sisters and a couple of others i cant think of right now.

i dunno, I haven't really seen anything that was too scary.. The Grudge just looks stupid IMO (the Remake one I mean, if there was an original) The only ones I can think of right now could be The Ring and The Exorcist: The Beginning.. well until the end.. maybe I'll think of some more later.

There's the original japanese version and the dodgy american remake... from the Jap version box:

Based on the famous Japanese legend of the Ju-On (a curse generated by someone who dies in the grip of powerful anger), this disturbing psychological horror follows the chilling exploits of five young women terrorized by a powerful and vengeful spirit

I haven't seen the american remake, but i can well imagine it's watered down teeny shite...

I really don't scare easily, as my elder brother conditioned me when I was 5 or 6 by forcing to watch Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Omen, Halloween, etc. Ring (the japanese one) was fucked up, as was Ju-On (again the jap one), a lot of the Takashi Miike films are fucked up, like Ichi the Killer and Audition, the original Blair Witch Project is quite good also. The last film to really scare me that sticks in my mind as really shit your pants scary was this one my brother forced my to watch when I was younger called The Lamp. I only watched it the once and haven't seen it again since I was a nipper, its probably a really crap film now, but I always remember it as proper fucking scary.

Only films that scared me were Freddy I, Aliens and Event Horizon.

I once killed Freddy in a dream (!) and then he stopped scaring me.

Aliens made me afraid of the dark at 12. I love the film though.

But goddamn Event Horizon with people running around with no eyes kept me awake at 20...

I don't have nightmares (well, I had one this year after so many years I don't even remember - perhaps 20) so horror films don't seem to affect me.

    really scary film.
its about a psychopath serial killer, who brings his female victims to his sleng, for a week of torture and rape, before killing them.
This film is a winner when it comes to hair raising..
And that isnt cheap adrenaline rush, from fast moving shokers, spilled guts, or shiny effects and screathin noises..
The director, whos a top low budget film maker, created such a moving enviroment, and manages to pass you all the weight and tention of the story, to the point that at the end of the film, i was fuming and acting as if i was a relative of the victims, and actually wanted to get in the film, and sort things myself....

heavy stuff..best watched with a girl on your first date
