What's the best DnB from 2002-2013

Hi, I need some serious help with getting to know modern DnB!

I must admit that I haven't got a clue about any DnB after about 2002. I grew up listening to old school 90s jungle drum and bass and I've never made the effort to get to know the more recent DnB. Now that I've started getting an interest in mixing I feel that I should broaden my horizons and make the effort to get to know what the younger generation is raving to.

So if anyone's got the time I would love to hear what they think are the DnB anthems of the last decade. Or maybe not even anthems but just tunes that you feel have made you fall in love with drum and bass.

Hey, Thanks Cor, I just checked out some of Teebee's and Calyx's stuff. I like Teebee's Hunter and Padawan, Wicked tunes mate.

I guess the problem for me is finding new dnb tunes easily available on vinyl.

I'm starting to think that maybe I should've skipped the vinyl and just went with the cd mixers like every one else!?!

if youve got a laptop or PC grab Traktor Audio A6 for £220 and you can keep vinyl and play digital too ;)

as youve probably got loads of oldskool vinyl it would be silly to get rid of the technics
 
Ha ha, Technics?? I've got a shitty 10 year old pair of Numarks. You should check out the "wow and flutter" of them bad boys..

The thing is, I've got well over 1k to spend on some new equipment but I haven't got a clue.

Since I've got a couple of grands worth of old school DnB, Jungle, Garage vinyl I'd rather stick with some turntables.

I've heard some good things about Stanton ST 150s but at £400 each I wanna know that there gonna last me. You know what I mean?
 
I was in the same situation myself,stopped listening to pretty much all dnb from 2002 - 09.When I took the time to start checking the new stuff (at that time dnb with a big electro influence..Subfocus,Brookes Bros ect..) I immediately thought it was all shit and reverted straight back to listening to stuff I was familiar with..90's old skool/jungle/dnb.It wasn't until I stumbled across a Bladerunner mix that I started to dig a little deeper especially into the kinda revamped jungle style,which eased me into listening to all the other new styles of dnb which had become popular...cool story bro ect...


If you get the time check out some of DJ Vapours mixes,also Dawn Raid UK,Bladerunner,Serum stuff..it's got a lot 90's style vibes but with a modern dnb twist (y)

There is a bunch you can look at :) I only got into things last year after a long long layoff, and was really a house guy when younger. There are some labels that just make good tunes. My favourite has to be Critical Music. Loads of great artists on their label, and its fookin dutty!!!!

you can get technics off ebay for 400 a pair. and they will last you forever. mine are older than i am and still going strong! but yeah, if you get decks and traktor or any dvs you can play vinyl as well as mp3's (although i know nothing about dvs)

another suggestion would be to go into the members mixes section and listen to mixes and they will more than likely have track lists you can get the names of tunes you like from

All rose to prominence and released consistently great music in the last decade. Shogun's quality control is not as high as the others on that list but it needs to be in there.
