What the Bleep & foi oi oi - Feelings for Detroit Vol. 3: Muffin on the Side
On May 28th, 2004, at an afterparty for the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF) two passionate individuals met. For What the Bleep (then known as Bleep) that event was his first electronic music event and for foi oi oi (then known as Coleco) it was his first DJ booking. At that moment no one would have expected that the two would become “brothers”, play countless number of tag-team ragga jungle sets at events across the midwest, and create a mixtape series in honor of their DEMF tradition. “Feelings for Detroit” started as just a casual impromptu mix recorded in the hours leading up to the trip up to the festival in Detroit in 2004. Volume two, “Where's Our Gig?”, which was released at DEMF the following year, was more professional; it included coverart, voicings, and a higher quality recording. And now, this year's mix has evolved into something even greater:
“Feelings for Detroit Vol. 3: Muffin on the Side”.
As a testiment to the progress that they have made in their friendship, mixing techniques, and attitude towards music, this mix is foi oi oi and What the Bleep's combined skill at its best. When collaborating, they fuse together their individual talents and ideas, thinking as one. The result: an unconstrained creative flow of music, unique interpretations of ragga jungle music, and a positive music experience for listeners of any background.
