    i can never understand people that say, 'oh, i only like techno, or, i only like house'; that must be a very dull existence and they must be very boring djs. dunno bout you lot, but if i mixed just one type of music id be bored to the extreme: always good to branch out (providing ya got the cash of course).

    First type of music i started buying (when i just turned 17) was oldskool hardcore/jungle, and most of my money still goes into this genre. I love D&B, but im not too keen the way the scene is going and find my self buying a lot pre 2000 DNB instead. I also love deep house; house is one the best, and most beautiful genres of music in the world imo, people say liquid dnb does what house does but better, thats bollocks, nothing can be as deep and soulfull as house (underground of course, not that commercial funky crap). Record shopping for deep house can be long, theres so much crap out there but for all the shit there's some proper gems.

    So, the music i love the most is probably oldskool with dnb and deep house a close second; i mostly mix oldskool & dnb, but with scene lacking in proper quality releases (imo of course) i've been buying more and more deep house.

    what about you lot?

    I only mix jungle/dnb, but my most recent purchases are

    Carl Craig - DJ Kicks (1996)
    Roots Manuva - Alternately Deep
    Pearl Jam - Ten
    on CD

    Nomad - Devotion
    Rebel MC - Rebel Music
    Jonny L - Make Me Work (Turn Me Around)
    Hardfloor - Acperience
    Digital - Get Loose (Gateman rmx on flip)
    on Vinyl

    At home I listen to a mix of dnb and other dance music, a a small bit of rock like Living Color or Soundgarden, and some 80s gems. Also UK hip hop and grime.

    I only mix dnb (and that includes 1992-2006) (though I used to mix some house, ghettotech and will sometimes drop hiphop) but listen to a variety of things, mostly hiphop and funk.

    Like I said in another thread, there is too little outside influence on dnb nowadays. The scene needs its young producers to stop smoking massive amounts of herb to loops of Wormhole whilst arguing in DOA and start listening to James Brown whilst drinking whiskey. Or grime whilst dancing with some girls. Same applies to listeners.

    As far as deep house is concerned, properly produced drum & bass can be a lot more soulful and meaningful, i.e. Timeless, Photek's albums...

    :word: Word on Carl Craig, Landcruising is one of my fave albums.

    Anyways, to put it bluntly, I listen to everything and I mix everything I listen to.
    I mean, I play dnb at dnb events obviously, but I promote my own eclectic events where we have special themes. For example, we had a Recycle theme night where each of the DJs remixed a shit song into something else, and we played loads of breakcore. Another time we did a Halloween night and played a load of goth music, electroclash/punk and hard techno.
    I listen to everything, so it feels right that I should play it out as wel, you know.
    If you've heard my non-dnb mixes, you'll know what I mean.

    well yea, but the best that deep house has to offer can be better than anything photek puts out. i like photek, but his deeper stuff does sometimes lack a certain energy to them, which is something that good deep house has got.

    I think good "deep" {wich I think is a broad term to Dnb}
    Dnb---Provides more vibes than most good deep house IMO....Its just so hard to compare them :shrugs:

    Well i like mixing DnB, any kind, depends what mood i'm in really. I also have access to loads of house, techno and hard trance cos that's what my flatmate's into and recently been buying loads of Hip-Hop, so that's in there aswell.

    Over the last few weeks I've had a load of different stuff in the CD player including;
    The Free Association - David Holmes
    Black Sunday - Cypress Hill
    a few DJmag covermounts
    Evil Empire - Rage Against the Machine
    The Matrix Soundtrack
    3 Dollar Bill, Y'all - Limp Bizkit
