what is this sound effect (pitched-up water drop or something)?

what is the sound effect at the beginning of blame - out there? it has the reverb/delay on it and is intermittent

i've heard it in a lot of old atmospheric dnb and even in newer songs like ayah marar - unstoppable (metrik remix). it's a very popular sound but i've never been able to figure out what it is.

not the organ, it's almost like a pitched-up water-dropping sound. it only lasts for a split second but there's usually a delay/reverb on it or sometimes a few of them are sequenced together. i hear it alot in old skool atmospheric dnb and i think cheesy downtempo love songs. i've tried searching for water drop sound effects and only find the realistic sounding ones; to my ears this sound effect comes off as a synthetic sound but i could be wrong. i'm not sure what this is called but it's been used a lot in different songs.

you can hear it at 0:04, 0:10, 0:15 on Blame - Out There http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJnD4Em1sOc
or at 0:12-0:13, 0:24-0:25 on Seba - Universal Music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiHpunxJarM
or at 0:05-0:07, 0:16-0:18 on Ayah Marar - Unstoppable (Metrik Remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUNhxGyno6U

Sometimes I like to use a home-made brew of Vaseline, Pjur - Back Door Lube, and bread crumbs to wax my carrot with; the crunch from the breadcrumbs along with the gentle yet confident greasing provided by the Pjur creates great mid-range movement. Record that, add loads of frequency shifters and reverb; 3 chorus unit all with the dry/wet at 100% with total random parameters. I'm an artist.

Yeah a clave thats it ;)

Glad you found it OK.

yeah i just did some googling after reading your reply and saw that a lot of the results used wood block and clave almost interchangeably, or at least they're close enough. i had a few good one-shot samples in my collection without even knowing it. i figured there was a good chance i already had some samples of the sound and i did try blindly going through my collection of samples but it was just wasted time without knowing the name of what you're looking for. it didn't help i was looking in the "sound fx" folders and not percussion lol.

i found a good sample in stakka's firestorm sample pack and a ton of samples in Goldbaby's Super Analog808 Pack but they pretty much all sounded the same. but yeah, i'm good to go now (y) i would've never figured that one out on my own, i wasted 2 weeks of looking off n on before finally posting the question

Thanks dizzy, I appreciate all your comments m8, yeah I tend to finish one track per day. Some of them end up getting a little bit rushed whilst others get better treatment but I like to always be working putting down fresh ideas.

Respect due for the comments, like I said if you ever need a hand just let me know Ill help all I can.
