Hypnosis Recordings has got something special for the first release of 2014. The “Transcendence” EP by Perth drum & bass lords VLTRN is a hard hitting, volatile collection of the best neurofunk influenced drum & bass you will encounter this year.
VLTRN have truly stuck to their sci-fi dominated style of tear out breakbeats with their tracks “Transcendence” & “Judgment”. These two weapons will make you believe that the duo was hanging off the edge of a cliff by the skin of their fingers when they wrote them! Keeping it all in the family; the duo then decided that “Inhibit” by HRX bass fiend Killafoe needed the drum & bass treatment. It was torn apart and reborn through a maelstrom of screaming bass lines and an onslaught of stomping beats.
Just when you thought this EP couldn’t get any better, neuro veteran Rreglua jumps on board and rolls out his remix of VLTRN’s first release with Hypnosis Recordings “Infamous”. Rregula strips back the original rollercoaster of a tune and returns it to us in the form of a dark & rolling bass monster.
If this is the first of many to come from the VLTRN duo this year, we can’t wait for what’s next.
