I thought it was a remix by a friend of the original artist but i got told it's a remix by the original artist?

I have a question about VIP's actually and I might aswell continue this thread...
I thought this the other night... Aren't VIP's meant to be released on the same label as the original? I just wondered that if a VIP was distrubted on a different label would there not need to be a contract agreement with the previous label?

when a tune is remade/mastered a bit differently to the original and the producer likes it, he adds a VIP to the end and most of the time it is only on dub so us people cant get are grubby lil fingers on it
