The album is nearing completion and the energy is buzzing at Violence HQ. Lots of news and info forthcoming, but to tide you over here is what's happening in the immediate future:
ECHO
a. "Falling" - PLAY.
aa. "Out of Time (Calyx remix)" - PLAY.
VIO-014
release date: February
Old school heads might be forgiven for blinking at the warm, familiar chords that announce Echo’s “Falling,” but the lush, filigreed intro remains solvent only as long as it’s fused together by beats. Unconstrained, the layers peel away, hurtling us into the breakdown, revealing a fleeting, longed-for glimpse of a stillness that explodes into nothingness at the drop. “Falling” manages a rare feat in evoking the sensation it names: what it might sound like to accompany a man and his thoughts on a long, terrible fall for which there is no net, a condition beautifully expansive and horribly claustrophobic. A tremendous, demanding single.
On the flip, Echo’s sweeping “Out of Time” gets a bracing remix by the mighty Calyx. Choosing to hype the toxicity of an already galvanic original, the beautiful, thick curtain of strings and pads that open the tune is pulled apart as Calyx lowers the original in an acid bath. At the drop, we’re met with an absolutely caustic mix of filtered acid, cold forged beats, and elemental bass.
If drum and bass is science, and the dance floor its lab, then these sides set them both aflame.
March-
VIO-015
Violence LP Sampler:
a. HIVE, KEATON, GRIDLOK, ECHO - "Violent Sound"
aa. HIVE - "Neo (Dom & Roland remix)"
