Im relatively new to music production and everything I know is self taught.
My knowledge of the program that I use (FL Studio 7 XXL) is improving quickly but my main downfall is my musical ability.
Ive have made quite a few tunes in the time that i have been producing but all of them quite frankly... suck.

I was wondering if there were any tips that you guys could give me on how to use samples to beef up my tunes and make them generally more interesting.

Also... got any tips on making decent Jump Up basslines?
Any help would be wikid.
SAFE!

Youtube is ur friend. the videos dont have to be DNb related either, alot of the videos that helped me where hip hop etc.

use high quality samples, layer snares to beef them up. there is a good tutorial by chase n status, and some by subfocus as well

when u discover more new things, ask more specific questions and then ull get more specific replys. also this is a really basic picture of a drum and bass pattern http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/654/

as for good basslines, try the 3x osc, and get a nice deep noise, the play with the LFO and the attack and delays...

hope this helps

Cool. Thats helped.
Thanks bro!

Ok yeah sozzz... i was a bit vague...

Its gettin the kinda... melody down. The actual notes and stuff.

Ive got loadsa VSTs and i can sorta make the sounds I want... its just getting them into a decent string of notes that I'm finding hard.

Any suggestions on that?

if you have a look in the fruity tutorial thread you will find note tables's, major and minor plus there's a load of other cool stuff to pick up to. you'll find it under the production tab, its a sticky.
