On Friday 20th January Urban Nerds usher in the new year with a return to Fabric for our first 2012 event, celebrating 4 years of select Nerds parties at fabriclive with another very special Friday night instalment! Following on a string of incredible takeovers that have seen us bring everyone from Breakage, Oneman, Tomb Crew and Geeneus to Plastician, DJ Q and Tinchy Stryder to Fabric towers, we’re back with a rave worthy start to 2012…

Having taken the big bass to room 2 in 2011, we thought it time to head back to the deep, dark caves of room 3 this month, curating a deeper line-up to resonate through the tunnels of our favourite fabric room and the original Nerds home away form home, blending the experimental bass, garage, dubstep and funky sounds we love on one of the finest sound systems London has to offer.
Returning with us, Marcus Nasty and the energetic mic skills of his host, Rankin. Now firmly cemented as part of the Urban Nerds family with a new residency established in 2011, we’re proud to see Marcus in his first Urban Nerds headline slot, back to fuse the deepest UK funky, dark house, bass and 2-step hybrids that define his acclaimed, forward thinking Rinse FM show and continue to uphold his reputation as one of the finest DJs on the underground circuit today.
We also welcome T.Williams, one of the most anticipated DJs of 2012, having wowed ravers throughout the past 2 years with flawless late night blends of bass, garage and 4x4 inspired UK house sets that remain truly genreless but never fail to start a party! The Deep Teknologi label head rounded off an incredible year last year with a must-listen FACT mix. Let alone his original productions way back when we called him Dread D, need-to-know releases include the forever re-loaded remix for Breach’s ‘Fatherless’, recent Local Action release ‘Broke Broke’ and our personal favourite, 2010’s massive jazzy vocal house banger, ‘Heartbeat’. This man will move from strength-to-strength this year but first, watch him blow the roof off room 3 with Urban Nerds this month!
Joining them, a DJ who needs no introduction, the legendary Slimzee returns with the classic UK garage and early grime dubs that played a huge role in spearheading institutions such as Rinse FM and the sounds dominating dance culture today.
Urban Nerds’ Rattus Rattus and Klose One will be crossing the boldest bass infused dubstep, garage and electro with their unstoppable blend of underground gems and supporting, another one to watch this year in the form of Tighten Up Records’ newest recruit, Alfie.
Alfie’s debut EP ‘Treatment’ was supported by the likes of MJ Cole, Doorly, Crookers, Four Tet, Seb Chew and DJ Flight, to name a few. Influenced by garage, dubstep, jungle, DnB as well as old school ska and jazz, he blends all of these sounds and makes them his own. Mary Anne Hobbs said "I can't believe he's only 16, what an amazing talent.” His 3rd EP ‘About Midday’, a tribute to Miles Davis is due out on Tighten Up this month and what better way to celebrate than to join Urban Nerds in room 3 at Fabric!
