"Felix K teams with DB1 for Elemnt album

A triple-vinyl pack, Elemnts continues the partnership between the two purveyors of deep drum & bass.

The Elemnts LP firms up a connection between a pair of producers who each favor a deep, dubby sound—one that's heavy on drum & bass while incorporating techno and ambient elements. Felix K, a Berlin fixture, has called on the low-key, London-based DB1 for a handful of contributions to his Hidden Hawaii label group in recent years, including 2015'sOhne Titel 12-inch. The two also linked up last spring for an EP called Transitions, before revealing their first release as Elemnt, Water, in the fall.

A triple-vinyl pack with 13 total tracks,Elemnts brings together material from three Elemnt 12-inches, Square, Octagon andCircle Of Light, each of which seems to be getting its own limited issue. A remix (onCircle Of Light) comes from Levl. There's no release date yet, but some track samples have surfaced on the Hidden HawaiiSoundCloud page, and "Square 1" has been shared on YouTube.

The Elemnt project is the latest in a run of recent collaborations for Felix K, who featured in our Machine Love interview series last year. He's also put out records alongside Ena, BassDee and Drumkid over the past 12 months or so.

"Our first vinyl LP >> Triple Vinyl

We are celebrating the diversity and strength of the roster with a selection of 12 tracks from the celebrated Cosmology digital compilation series, which amongst other things earned a DJ Mag compilation of the year shortlist in 2014.

Cosmology Selections is one for the label’s ardent followers with some of the best loved tracks from the series being pressed to vinyl — across three 12”s — for the first time. Making the cut are label mainstays Danny Scrilla, Moresounds, Kromestar, and Om Unit who each contribute distinct takes on the dubwise fusion of old and new that has been the hallmark of Cosmic Bridge. Newer additions are also represented with DJ Madd and Jay Spaker’s uplifting roller ’After Dark’, J Kenzo’s furious ‘Skatta VIP’, and TMSV’s oppressive ‘Send Them Come’. Rounding things off are four collaborations between label head Om Unit and Moresounds (’Nuff Music’), Fracture (‘Chatting Breeze’), Distance (‘Half The Battle’), and Kromestar (‘Solar Cycle (Melody Mix)’) that take in everything from lurking eyes-down riddim to breezy footwork and sweeping sci-fi meditation.

Cosmology Selections represents over five years of forward movement at the edges of electronic dance music, shining a light into the darkness for those who would follow. “This selection represents some of the best of our bunch,” says Jim Coles, aka Om Unit. “It’s one for our fans, without whom we have nothing to talk about.”

"Astrophonica kicks off 2017 with a compilation capturing the sounds that have driven the label forward for the past five years. *Gradients* is Astrophonica’s first compilation and brings together its small but powerful roster with a string of close friends and allies, giving prominence to both well-known names — dBridge, DJ Earl, Stray, Om Unit under his Philip D Kick guise — and newcomers — Lewis James, Tusais, Touchy Subject, Tehbis.

Astrophonica’s ties to various established players are proudly on display with contributions from Richie Brains collaborators Sam Binga — the furious, clap-driven ‘BFT’ — and Stray — whose uplifting ‘Blink’ provides a ray of sunshine — as well as Exit boss dBridge, who indulges his love of sampling and breaks on the stripped back ’db vs The 45 King’. Reflecting Astrophonica’s love of Chicago footwork is ‘Statisfyee’, a hypnotic groover from Fracture and DJ Earl, Teklife member and a disciple of the late DJ Rashad, while Sully’s ‘Helios’ gets a rare remix from Philip D Kick, the footwork meets jungle alias of Om Unit.

Representing the label, Parisian dub scientist Moresounds and English producer Sully come with two different but complimentary junglistic experiments: the dark and percussive ‘Warriah’ and the expansive and rolling ‘We’re Here’. Meanwhile London’s Touchy Subject and Tehbis, the latest additions to Astrophonica, offer up two head-nodding burners with the bright and colorful ‘Cosmic Tales’ and the smoky grooves of ‘Alphabet Ooz’. Label founders Fracture & Neptune dig deep into their archive for ‘Whatever’, a previously unreleased track updated for 2017 that pays homage to Astrophonica’s roots with trademark attention to detail and an ear for rhythmic sensibilities. Fracture also flies solo with ‘Back Up In This’, a lean and aggressive dancefloor wrecker. Completing the picture are two new talents: Irish-born, London-based producer Lewis James displays his blend of cinematic compositions and hard-hitting beats on ‘Snook’ while Antwerp’s Tusais does an equally efficient job of pummeling the dancefloor with the menacing ‘Blackout’.

*Gradients* is a glorious celebration of Astrophonica’s growth as well as its stylistic roots and forward-thinking ethos. Each of the 13 tracks has been tested in the clubs for the past year to ensure an all-killer-no-filler experience. And as with previous releases, the compilation sports artwork from Utile Creative whose striking design adds an all-important visual touch to a new milestone for the label"

You Sure it's not on dispatch

I saw something on fb b4 xmas that said it was coming on Horizons. The reason I remember it was because I thought to myself... surely that should be coming on Dispatch. But i've looked back through there page & I can't find any info so maybe it's changed. Either way i'm looking forward to hearing it.

Looks like there's a secret Season 1 vinyl mini lp surfacing soon with heads on some of the New Forms line ups, with attendees of an event getting dibs on it (and hopefully it will crop up on the Exit site after) including Addison Groove, Cooly G, dBridge, Kabuki, Kid Drama, Stray, V.I.V.E.K, Zed Bias & Zoe Violet

who the fuck would buy an expensive Wilkinson vinyl box set when there's no previews? Especially with so many featured vocalists potentially making it a bit pop-y.

Or are there previews?

The sensual Wilko hand wringing on the cover is enough to entice most of RAM's current fan base.
