Hey im new to the forum I been producing a while and only just realized that I have been letting a lot of my tracks clip and then compensating
by turning the master down and then limiting the shit outta it to make it loud again. I now realize the error of my ways and have started using rough gain structures. I no there no real rules for this but can anyone tell me a typical gain structure for a D'n'b track

Cheers

You want your track to be in the -3 to -6db range
If you want it to be louder then just turn up the volume of your speakers
You leave room so that when it comes time to get mastered they have an area to work in, also avoids clipping
There is definitely a million guides on it out there ill try to find something useful for you

Also, if your track is too loud but you are satisfied with the levels that every channel is compared to eachother
Then just highlight all your channels and turn them all down by an equal amount

Gonna solve alot of my problems :P

Cheers again man

Never ever turn your master down to compensate for clipping. All your doing is reducing the overall loudness which will not eliminate any the clipping from the sum of the other tracks.
