Tuning EVERYTHING to the root/scale of your track....

In Cubase(I use 7.5.2 and not sure about previous versions) you can select audio event and in the Info Line at the top there are settings like Transpose, Fine-Tune and others. And don't forget to choose appropriate algorithm.

Also you can double click an event to open sample editor and do the same thing from there and apply it to the whole sample.

Very handy tools. Actually I just love Cubase's audio editing, especially after Logic's terrible Sample Editor.

I've never really thought about doing it but I do usually muck around with the flex speed in logic when I'm not satisfied with my snares. That solves the problem most of the time. So I guess I've actually been doing it all along?
 
sometimes i'll tune my drums. sometimes not. often i'll just pitch them till they fit in the right spot in the mix. I don't really aim for a certain note.
