(troubleshoot) recording a mix MacBook Pro 2017???

Hi guys

have recorded a few mixes before on a slow windows laptop by using the "record" connections on the back of the mixer {white and red RCA leads} to a headphone jack on the laptop as an input and recorded through audacity,

on my MacBook it seems like this cannot be done? I have no options in the system preferences > sound section to use the headphone port as an input?

any help appreciated,

will I still need this if I have a DJM 900? (should of mentioned this in the original post my bad)

I assume there is some way to record through rekordbox/through the USB port of the mixer??
