The second release on Transference Recordings delivers the latest sounds of label owners Future Engineers in a track entitled ‘Inscape’ and their remix of LM1’s ‘Berlin’.
Future Engineers ‘Inscape’ is a refreshingly quirky piece of deep drum and bass that combines bright melodies with melancholic vibes, tech-stepping beats and a warm sub bassline. This versatile track has already proven popular with DJs across the scene, including Calibre and Blu Mar Ten.
By now Allan Cowie aka LM1 probably needs no introduction - he is one of the hottest new Drum & Bass artists on the scene with a number of releases under his belt already, and DJ support from some of the scene’s biggest names. This former progressive house/trance producer from Edinburgh in Scotland has turned his hand to D&B with finesse, merging elements from a range of progressive dance genres with intelligent beats and bass to create his own inimitable style.
In their remix, Future Engineers have given LM1’s ‘Berlin’ a welcome injection of pace and added some extra firepower. Whilst staying true to the original tune by retaining the deep and progressive soundscapes, it plays more on the darker, funkier elements in a style that is reminiscent of their own earlier material on Good Looking Records.
