Tom SMall - Lineformer EP -Dust Audio

Dust Audio drop their first EP of the year with Czech Republic’s finest, Tom Small. Who
brings forth his particular take on tech driven drum & bass.

Kicking into the title track, Lineformer Tom manages to aim it straight onto the dancefloor and keep his particular groove under flowing throughout.
With its low slung modulated bass working underneath a precise kick and snare, the mid-range stabs and fx’s keep building this driving roller. Percussion tickling the hi end frequencies from pressure point to pressure point. A tune that has been on heavy rotation from some of the more established DJs in the scene.

Tom next drops Affected. With a sinister edge and outlook, it drops into some energised half step drums. The kick works overtime and the bass hits in accordance with it. With breathing space sucking and blowing in and out this tune demonstrates he isn’t afraid to take it into different directions, a stand out tune for a lot of A-List selectors.

Round One steps in next and keeps bubbling along nicely with nods to the old skool then into some 21st century fuelled style business, heavy kicks and sharp snares keep the 2 step drum pattern flowing and with mid-range stabs hitting the listener in the rib cage and the low bass hitting you even lower in the skeleton this will make even the hardened skeptic move in sequence with it.

Last but certainly not least. Partial Deformation eases the EP into some eastern musical direction but what Tom can do at ease is just switch it into his familiar style, this time he holds back with a half step drum pattern alongside a snake style synth before the drop, which isn’t your usual 2 step drums that you might have been expecting, instead the Prague man adds a few nicely layered snares to proceedings and keeps the modulation hitting it off the with the kicks. Sparkling hi hats and sharpened filtered stabs keep it funky. A wicked switch up tune.

A great debut EP from Tom Small on Dust Audio which has already gained support from big DJ’s and labels in the drum & bass scene.”
