How do you make them?

It's like in every song i know of Camo & Krooked. In the background you hear what i think are cymbals (their sweetshop remix is a good example). But i dont know if they really are cymbals?
How do you actually make them because a normal cymbal sample has the *tick sssssss* but all you hear in dnb is the *sssssss*.. Do they just grab a cymbal and slice out the tick or am i searching in the wrong direction?

Thanks in advance!

This is what i mean (from 0.43)

I didnt listen but have you tried reversing the sounds?

i dont know exactly how its done but i really wana know as well...cuz its useful for all sorts of music, not just dnb.

im guess its just some eq, subtle reverb and echo but i could be wrong

You can compress a ride or an open hihat really heavily with a really short attack so it levels it out and get this sort of sound

sounds like some splash cymbals man, nothing tricky, get the timing right, experiment with different cymbals, crashes, splashes, high pass..

i remember someone who used some wide open hihats, made 1/8 notes and highpassed them at about 4khz. so only high sssch was heard. sounded very nice
