The reason why dnb producers pitch their snares

I just listened to the Noisia Radio of this week and they answered the question "Why are people using higher pitched snares ?". I thought their answer to the question was pretty interesting so I figured I'd share it here

Another reason: A higher pitched snare is more easily separated from the bass because it's further apart in frequency
It's easier to mix and it lets your bass come up to the 200 hz region where the snare was before, so you can get nice big sounding mids.

I heard this and I'd have to disagree, I think it's just a style choice. I know it's a weird thing to disagree with Noisia!

If you want to separate the snare from the bass you can just low cut the snare, if you have a high frequency snare that sounds big you won't even miss the low end.
