After an astonishing rise to fame DJ and production duo The Prototypes have rapidly become one of the most recognized names among the 'new breed' in drum and bass. Accredited as amongst the freshest and most exciting talents to emerge in recent years we are pleased and excited to announce the exclusive signing of The Prototypes to Shogun Audio.

With a trademark big room sound support for The Prototypes has come from all areas including including Andy C, Friction, Sub Focus, Roni Size, Fresh, Pendulum and more. Off to a great start they were recently announced as one of ATM magazine's 2010 'Leaders of the Nu-Skool' and are proud to have hosted a UKF podcast that's reached a phenomenal 250,000 downloads and counting.

Their infectious track 'Cascade' has brought them massive Radio 1 support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Nightingale, Annie Mac, Fabio & Grooverider and had also earned them a highly acclaimed mini-mix as part of Jaguar Skills' 'Jag Fest'. All this plus forthcoming remixes on Ninja Tune and Sony BMG, the boys are demonstrating serious versatility.

Judging on their sound, you wouldn't think they were a Shogun artist imho.

I was actually going to say this! its like friction, the tunes he releases on shogun are not like any of the other shogun artists. same as prototypes now i guess. yea cascade is a big choon!!
 
I hope it's not a wrong decision musically wise. Can't see any of the shogun artists playing anything of the prototypes tbh. and I'm faraway of liking any of their tunes till now. But well never say never...
 
REALLY?! Are you serious?

I thought these would be more suited to Hospital/Viper tbh. Does anyone know if they make deeper stuff or anything? I liked their recent release with Cascade, just surprised Shogun have signed them :|
 
Wouldnt have thought they would have suited the shogun sound judging on the myspace tunes. Have to see what they come up with for shogun shall we...
 
They have done some deeper stuff, which I understand is what they're releasing on shogun.
 
This could be interesting. Nothing better for musical creativity than throwing a spanner in the works.

Regardless of whether people would have made the same move it'll be interesting to see if this changes anything, it's got the potential to fuck up, but this could be an interesting move by those crazy jap bastards.
