On it’s 5th birthday, party pioneers THE PLAYGROUND present a night fused with French Electro and Future Bass by assembling some of the hottest producers revolutionising electronic music for one night only at Camden Town’s infamous KOKO on Saturday 10th November. In what promises to be a night to remember SEBASTIAN, UNICORN KID, SURKIN, GIRL UNIT, HACKMAN, HAEZER + many more will be blasting out Electro and Bass until the late hours of the morning.

► SEBASTIAN- Fresh from releasing his debut album ‘Total’ which received critical acclaim from the likes of BBC MUSIC and TINY MIX TAPES, French Electro producer SebastiAn headlines KOKO’s Room 1. SebastiAn’s reputation as a remixer perhaps overshadowed his standing as a solo producer due to ground-breaking versions of tracks by KAVINSKY, DAFT PUNK and BLOC PARTY to name a few. However since releasing ‘Total’ on ED Banger Records, SebastiAn shows his confidence in skipping between House, Techno, Funk and Futuristic Soul to create a breathlessly brilliant record that encapsulates electro lovers. Taken from the album, “Love In Motion EP”, which includes remixes from SKRILLEX and RUSTIE is out now.

► UNICORN KID- 8-bit/nu-rave 20-year-old producer hailing from Edinburgh who is one of the main figures who helped spearhead the short, but sweet revival of Chiptune, a style of dance music created using the sound chips from vintage computer gaming consoles. This rebirth of the genre helped to inspire acts such as CRYSTAL CASTLES with even British electronica artists such as DIZZEE RASCAL taking influence.

Now signed to EMI, UNICORN KID releases his material through MINISTRY OF SOUND in the UK and ULTRA RECORDS in the USA and has also supported the like of CALVIN HARRIS, PET SHOP BOYS and MAJOR LAZER. The upcoming “Need U” EP is being released on October 1st with upcoming Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Bournemouth and London O2 ACADEMY dates so expect to hear some of his new tracks when he entertains the audience at THE PLAYGROUND’s 5th birthday at KOKO.

► SURKIN- Co-founder of Marble and half of High Powered Boys French Electro maestro SURKIN has been around ages and released his debut album ‘USA’ last year on Ultralight. The French producer shows off his vast collection of influences through a tempestuous journey that experiments with Electro, House, Synth Pop and Chiptune genres. This tentative style twists and turns as SURKIN gets those French electro juices flowing.

He recently teamed up with New Jersey Garage legend TODD EDWARDS for the “I Want You Back EP”, which was picked up and supported by the likes of A-TRAK, ANNIE MAC, CROOKERS and ROB DA BANK. SURKIN’s ability to manipulate his samples and sounds through brilliant cuts and edits is infectious for all electro followers.

► GIRL UNIT- is 24 year old London-based UK Bass DJ and producer signed to BOK BOK and L-VIS’s NIGHT SLUGS. The Guardian describes his remixes and original tracks as “darkly monolithic synth chords of Sal’s witch house, relentlessly twitchy beats and chopped-and-diced R&B vocals”. GIRL UNIT’s grimey element in his earlier output has been replaced by a modern electro influence, demonstrating inspiration from snappy funk and sharp edged synth work mixed with crisp drum machine beats. In doing this he absolutely nails the soul of Electro and we can’t wait to have him tear up the dance floor at KOKO.

► HACKMAN- HACKMAN is an artist that we are very excited about here at THE PLAYGROUND. Already a very steady name on the underground, HACKMAN has been growing exponentially in popularity over the last few months with a string of tour dates and intermittent releases

Experimenting with the future bass sound that those aware of the Rinse FM roster will be familiar with, HACKMAN has a lo-fi groove that melts in between soft percussion and seldom used keys that echo and morph to create a relaxing yet fulfilling sound much like the work of Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Ghostpoet.

ROOM 2: HOSTED BY BIRTH RECORDS

► HAEZER- As one of the top exports of the South African electronic dance scene, voted 4th best South African DJ by DJMAG, HAEZER has established himself as a leader in the bass heavy electro genre which has gained wide spread popularity in dance clubs around the world.
HAEZER returns to Europe in October for his two month ʻThe Wrong Kid Died Tour” to promote the release and also plans to film his first ever tour documentary.
HAEZER is in Europe for SEPTEMBER 2012 and will be performing with DATSIK in Lisbon as well as playing 3 festivals, BEATPATROL in Austria, EMMABODAFESTIVAL in Sweden and STEREOCITY festival in Germany. He will also be performing at the OPPIKOPPI Music Festival and at GRIETFEST in South Africa.

► TRUMPDISCO- Since forming in 2009, TRUMPDISCO have been pushing the boundaries of their own brand of electronic dance music worldwide. They are renowned for their diverse remixing abilities, and have provided their services to acts such as Yolanda Be Cool, F.O.O.L, Kissy Sell Out and Diplo & Don Diablo this year alone!

Being named as ‘The Number One Electronic Act To Look Out For in 2012’ by HTF Magazine in the UK, 2012 looks to be a big year for Trumpdisco’s continually swelling fan base.

► THE C90S- Formed over a mutual appreciation for handclaps and cowbells, Jamie and Danny have been sharing their love of disco and house music since they first met in 2007. Between shows throughout Europe and tours of America, the two have been working tirelessly on remixes and original material, while always finding time to produce their world-renowned monthly chart mixes. Having spent years accumulating old synthesizers and building up an impressive studio in London, The C90s are now ready to begin work on their debut album.

Further support comes from the likes of FIGURES, LOST BOYS, FUTURIZM + more to be announced
