The old RAVE thread:

Some tunes from two of the biggest pirators in the business. Big up PJ & Smiley!

More Hall of Shame business this time from Atlantic Records who sued Shut up and Dance for the vocals on this track. Tossers...

Easily the most important two years in the history of Drum'n'Bass. Fuck knows how or why the music changed that much between '92 and '94 but we're still reaping the rewards now.

Nice one RudEE! :dutty:

Nice one RudEE! :dutty:

yer the old hardcore branched off all over the place:

happy hardcore, jungle/drum n bass (darkside and mainstream - liquid & jump up i spose, u know lighter stuff).

modern categories of dnb now are:

jump up (ruffnek style - rude boy yardie samples etc...)
tech step (dark style)
liquid (vocal uplifting dnb)

to name a few.

there's still happy hardcore, but it has evolved into some sort of mental uplifting gabber style stuff lol.

It's funny to think that these kind of tunes set the standard for modern dnb back in 94/95 and things havent changed an awful lot since then...

And of course father to a lot of the minimal stuff that's around now...

I can think of two people I'd like to mention in this thread because they both had a prolific output and unlike alot of producers from back in the day they're still writing tunes...

The first one is Terry Butler aka Terry T...

TERRYT.jpg

He started off as one half of London Hardcore duo Noise Factory.

watch

This is the first tune I can think of that mentions drum'n'bass and for me it's the original Breakage...lol!

Then he became Prizna...

Then he found his more spiritual side and became Knowledge & Wisdom...

And finally Terry Tee...

Respect due to a man who spans the entire length of hardcore/jungle/dnb!

The second one is Christopher McFarlane aka Potential Bad Boy. A man so big Hype had to give him his own label...

PotentialBadBoy.gif

He started producing hardcore under his own name and on the same Ibiza label as Terry T back in '93.

One of the original jungle dons...

He had a career gap after jump-up fizzled out but came back hard in 2004 with this tune...

And to think most of us had consigned him to the history books! The return of the bad boy...cha!

Just felt I had to share this with you as very few people have been in the game as long as these two! Boooyyyaa!
