The Junction in Cambridge - 10pm - 4am. £12 adv.

It was the club that inspired a musical generation, defined a scene and put dance music firmly on the map in the UK then the world. Although the old site on Whitworth Street, Manchester has now been replaced with a block of flats, the feeling and energy behind The Hacienda, and those heady days will live one forever.

Originally conceived, founded and financed in 1980 by Factory Records and New Order through a deal steered by Rob Gretton, the manager of the by then disbanded Joy Divison, The Hacienda first opened its doors on 21 May 1982 sporting a Factory Records catalogue number of Fac 51, a pioneering interior designed by architect Ben Kelly, Graphics by Peter Saville and featured Bernard Manning as the opening night act.

Not surprising that all if these forces combined turned The Hacienda into where is widely recognised as the birthplace of Acid House, and is responsible of shaping the face of UK club culture as it has since been known.

This summer sees the 25th Anniversary of The Hacienda since the legendary Manchester nightclub first opened its doors in 1982.

Peter Hook (Hooky) – New Order/Joy Division bassist & co-founder of The Hacienda is behind the launch of ‘Hacienda 25’ – a series of very special events/projects to celebrate the life of the legendary club.

This is going to be an event not to be missed. So book early to avoid disappointment.

Graeme Park
