I thought it would be good to have a place to share all the freeware that's out there.
I do almost all my production with freeware...
Here are a few links from past threads from DnB forum and other big collections of stuff

The go to for free plugins is http://bedroomproducersblog.com/ So much stuff on there, it's ridiculous.
You need to be slightly careful on http://www.vst4free.com/ to click on the right link, but there are lots of things on here too.
91 FX freebies: http://music.tutsplus.com/articles/over-90-free-vst-effects-plugins--audio-3834

It's also worth buying a copy of computer music for 5.99 just to get the CD, which has about 25 different free Synths and FX

OK, here is a list of the best free plugins I've found for a specific purpose. I'm sure a lot of people know these but it might be helpful for those who are just starting out:
Sampler: Either Kontact player http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/synths-samplers/kontakt-5-player/
or shortcircuit2 http://www.vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit
If you want to replicate a real-life instrument of any kind, then get schwartzando http://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando/ and go and download some free soundfonts: http://soundfonts.homemusician.net/
Compressor: either reacomp http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=471 for general compression, Reaxcomp http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=472 for multiband compression, or 5ourcery http://www.platinumears.com/5orcery.html for multiband sidechaining.
Reverb: Ambience http://magnus.smartelectronix.com/ The best free reverb VST ever... used to be paid for.
Phaser, flanger + chorus: Bluecat plugins. http://www.bluecataudio.com/Download/Products/
Frequency analyser: Bluecat again... See above link
Soundgoodizer: I was impressed to find a free soundgoodizer, it's called You wa shock... https://sites.google.com/site/youwashockvst/
Distortion: Tonnes of free distortion VSTs out there, too many to mention, but the obvious one is camelcrusher http://www.camelaudio.com/camelcrusher.php
Multieffect: Glitch. It's designed for creating crazy squarepusher style breaks and epic mangling http://illformed.org/plugins/

If anyone else has any good freebies, please post them here... I'm sure there're many more good things out there.

I am a fan of Sonimus and Klanghelm and use their stuff everywhere(Satson and SonEQ pro are my first plug-ins in just every chain now and DC8C-2 is fantastic for all kinds of compression needs with SDRR doing all but tape saturation things). And their freebees are great too:

Little brothers of the amazing saturator SDRR and compressor DC8C:

Sonimus SonEQ - Awesome 3-band analog-style eq with pre-amp section:
http://sonimus.com/products/soneq/

Signal Analizer - Very precise Spectrum and Waveform analizer. Windows only, really with to have something that good on Mac:
http://www.rs-met.com/freebies.html
s(m)exoscope - Another very popular waveform analyser. But only 32bit:

Voxengo SPAN - everyone knows it:
http://www.voxengo.com/product/span/

May be someone could suggest good oscilloscope for Mac with 64bit support? I use CM Waveshaper just to view waveform but sadly it is not that comfortable to use as smexoscope :(

Reverb: epicVerb - my favourite reverb plugin.
Distortion: AnalTortion - mostly use it for a trashy, oversaturated or dirty sound, but still good for conventional distortion.

Actually, pretty much everything made by the Variety of Sound-guy is awesome. So just go here, download everything, and soon you will be the next Skrillex :D loljk, not like you can invent dubstep again - which he did. loljkhisearlystuffwasgoodthough.

Plug and Mix (dotcom) normally charge for their plug ins but for the last few months have had a promo on to like their fb page and get codes for a free plugin. If you feel like getting dirty, you could theoretically create enough emails and fb acccounts to get all plugins from them for free lol, though if anyone is interested in sharing their codes, I have quite a few to share...

The definitive database really. Back when i was hoarding free stuff, this was all i ever needed. I recommend anybody looking for specific free shit, look here http://www.kvraudio.com/q.php?search=1&q=&pr

Lol, if I'd found this first no other links would be necessary.
Having said that, it's good to hear people's opinions on what's good. It takes too long to sort through the crap myself...
